Project Goals:

  • Create a game-ready 3D environment of a Spanish kitchen that will be presented on a portfolio with documentation.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in technical skills developing modular assets for real-time applications.

Breakdown

Post Mortem

Throughout the development of my project, I initially anticipated challenges stemming from scope and time constraints. However, the journey took an unexpected turn as I encountered numerous issues primarily related to software crashes and general technological hiccups. Despite the frustration, I implemented multiple backups and I have now changed my workflow going forward to avoid this issue in the future.

This experience taught me so much about the tools at my disposal. I learned both substance designer and new substance painter skills that have sharpened my overall skillset. I am proud of how the environment turned out although I have issues with the lack of realism in some of the elements. However, looking back, there are areas that could benefit from further refinement.

Specifically, I plan to revisit the project to address some of its rougher edges, such as the low quality of the plant models. I want to take the time to polish these elements to increase the realism. Additionally, I intend to introduce more clutter models to enrich the environment and make it feel more immersive.

Moving forward, I will apply these insights to future projects, and hopefully have a more smoother development processes and even better products.
